Code Groups

A Code Group is a data item that allows you to group similar (or related) codes together.  This can be useful when searching for a code, and it can improve the readability of certain reports.  The following reports make use of Code Groups:

For more information on where the Code Group is used, refer to the Code Group field on the Codes tab .

Code Groups, like Codes , have a Code type and Practice type field.  Once these have been set the Code Group can only be used on Codes  that have a matching Code type and Practice type.  In other words, when editing or adding a Code  the Code Group field  will only allow you to select a Code Group whose Code type and Practice type match the Code type and Practice type of the Code  you are working with.

Note that if the Code type and Practice type fields have been disabled by Panacea it is probably because that Code Group has been used on a Code .  i.e. A Code  exists whose Code Group field  has been set to this Code Group.

Description
This field describes the Code Group and is used only for internal purposes.  i.e. it does not appear on your patient's statement.  The Description may appear on the reports listed above.
